The shop

Shelves you can lose twenty minutes in.

A proper Italian delicatessen, which means things you have to pick up and turn over before you understand what they are for. Ask. That is what we are here for.

Sage-green shelving stacked with hand-painted ceramic olive oil bottles, flour from Puglia, dried pulses and tinned oils.
Floor-to-ceiling sage shelves of Italian wine, preserves and biscuits, with white wisteria hanging from the ceiling.
The deli counter with cheeses and cured meats under glass, price cards handwritten in chalk, and a red Berkel slicer at the end.
The counter

Cheese & charcuterie

Pecorino with truffle, asiago, fontina, bergamino di bufala, parmigiano cut off the wheel. Mortadella, salami, coppa, bresaola, prosciutto — sliced to order on the Berkel while you decide what else you want.

Priced by the kilo, sold by however much you actually need. Filled pasta, olives and antipasti from the same counter.

Oils & balsamics

The things worth carrying home

Balsamic condiments infused with lemon, rose or lavender. Extra virgin olive oil pearls in little gold tins — they burst on a burrata and people ask what on earth they are. Oil in painted ceramic you will keep on the shelf long after it is empty.

A bottle of Casanova lemon balsamic condiment, its label painted with lemons.
A bottle of Casanova rose balsamic condiment held up to the light.
A pale blue presentation tube of lavender balsamic condiment.
Rows of small gold tins of extra virgin olive oil pearls and balsamic pearls, seen from above.
Blue paper packets of Gentile Pasta di Gragnano rigatoni and bucatini on the shelf, beside boxed spaghetti and a carton of lentils.
Pasta & flour

Bronze-cut, slow-dried

Pasta di Gragnano IGP from Gentile — bronze-drawn, rough enough that the sauce actually stays on it. Monograno spaghetti from single-variety wheat. Flour milled for pizza and for fresh pasta, pulses from Puglia, rice for risotto.

If you are cooking for people this week, start here.

A row of Nocciolata organic hazelnut and cocoa spread jars along a shelf.
Jars of Sicilian coffee spread stacked two deep on the shelf.
The store cupboard

Jars, tins and spreads

Hazelnut and cocoa spread, dark and white. Sicilian coffee cream. Passata, sauces, artichokes, olives, capers, preserved lemons, honey and jam. Biscuits for the tin and panettone when the season comes round.

Shelves of Blend tea boxes — Earl Grey Special, Nettare d'Africa, Italian Breakfast and Vento d'Autunno — each with a painted motif.
Tea & coffee

Boxes too nice to throw away

Italian Breakfast, Earl Grey Special, Vento d'Autunno with hazelnut and vanilla, Nettare d'Africa, Truffle Blanc, fruit infusions. And coffee for the machine at home, because the holiday has to end somehow.

Stacked gold tins of extra virgin olive oil pearls, their labels catching the light.
Wine & the practicalities

Come in and have a look

There is no online shop. Stock changes week to week and half the pleasure is being handed something you were not looking for. If you want to know whether we have a particular thing in, ring us and we will go and look.

Italian wines, spirits and vermouth run along the lower shelves. Open a bottle at your table or take it away — whichever suits the afternoon.
